Sweet Sweet Buttercream

This is a delicious buttercream frosting recipe perfect to top any cake, cupcake or just to eat by itself! (Don't worry, we've all been there...) It pairs perfectly with fruit, sweets and loads more. This recipe is so simple to make; I used this recipe for my birthday party when I was turning 9 years old!

You'll need:

250g softened unsalted butter

600g powdered sugar, sifted

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

1-2 tablespoons whole milk

First place your butter in your electric mixer and beat for 5 minutes. Now add one cup of powdered sugar and beat for half a minute on low and then turn it up to high for two minutes. Do this until you've used ¾ of the sugar. Remember to scrape the edges of the bowl. Once you have ¼ left, you may notice the buttercream starts to get a little chunky. Add vanilla, and teaspoon of milk. Your milk will give you a smooth frosting or firm frosting. Mix but keep an eye on it. Add a teaspoon of milk. Mix well then add the rest of your powdered sugar. Mix. You should have used about a tbsp of milk. Now grab a spoonful of frosting and try to shake it off sideways. If it needs a hard shake to get off your spoon, the consistency is perfect.
